Lipid Clinic / Cholesterol Mgmt

Healthy heart, healthy life!

The Lipid Clinic at Lakeshore Medical Clinic offers patients a multidisciplinary approach to prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke and peripheral artery disease.

What are lipids?

Lipids are cholesterols that cause problems in the blood vessels around the heart and throughout the rest of the body. High cholesterol is a leading risk factor for coronary heart disease.

Who should see a lipid specialist?

If any of the following apply, you may be a candidate for treatment by a lipid specialist:

  • A family history of heart disease at a young age.
  • The presence of recurrent heart disease or stroke, despite control attempts.
  • Inability to tolerate cholesterol medication.

Comprehensive approach to care.

While lipids are the focus of the clinic, all preventative cardiology issues are addressed. Patients of the Lipid Clinic receive care from a team of caregivers, including:

  • Lipid Specialist – Develops a comprehensive plan to address your individual risk factors for heart disease.
  • Registered Dietician – Provides dietary advice focused on prevention of heart disease.
  • Physical Therapist – Addresses injury prevention and exercise, and their roles in protecting against heart disease.Lakeshore's Lipid Clinic is facilitated by Sarang Baman, MD.
